Take on the night
KYALAMI - Cycle Kyalami resumed its first night cycle around Kyalami in January.
Co-ordinator Darryl van Niekerk started the night rides for the community to explore Kyalami by night, with the hope of discovering the wildlife.
Van Niekerk commented on the cycle, “The ride itself was great, perhaps we make too much noise huffing and puffing and all the animals run away before we get there.”
He organises the rides so that they coincide with the full moon. He has planned a preliminary schedule for the night cycles for the year and welcomes community members to join the rides.
“It really has become a more community-oriented get together as there are quite a few Midrand police Crime Sector 4 Forum members who look after us on the ride.
There have been times where security personal have almost outnumbered the riders,” said van Niekerk. The next rides will be held on 11 February, 11 March and 15 April.
