Local community members return for Noordwyk Parkrun

The parkrun provides residents with a parkrun ID, which can be used to keep a track of their number of walks, runs, times, as well as important medical information.

Despite the wet, cold, and windy conditions on May 22, some brave participants geared up in their running kits and headed to Noordwyk Park for the Noordwyk Parkrun.

This was the ninth Noordwyk Parkrun since the first one on March 26, and week after week, the number of first-time participants has continued to rise with this parkrun attracting 14 new participants.

Amina Saber, event director for Noordwayk Parkrun said, “We welcome everyone, old or young as well as pets running along with them as this is a fun family activity.
“Our aim is to build a community through healthy activities and the parkrun is also a wonderful way for the entire family to get involved in something exciting.”
Currently, Evaristo de Aguiar holds the male and age-grade parkrun records with his time of 17:28 on April 2, and Melanie Jennett holds the female record with her time of 22:39 on May 4.

For those who wish to participate, it is advised to register via the Parkrun website at Parkrun.co.za/register. This provides you with a Parkrun ID, which can be used by participants to keep a track of their number of walks, runs, times, as well as important medical information.

Details: For more information, locals can visit Parkrun.co.za/noordwyk, visit the Parkrun Noordwyk Facebook page, or contact the event directors on 081 392 7510 or 082 882 2420.
