Supers Rovers suffer a 2–1 home defeat to Varsity College

This season, Rovers have played three league matches — losing two and drawing one, putting them in 15th place on the log with one point.

Super Rovers suffered their second loss of the season on November 19 to Varsity College FC who came from behind to win 2–1 at Rabie Ridge Stadium in the Joburg men’s regional league.

Varsity College dominated much of the first half after a ponderous first 25 minutes, with their front three causing plenty of issues on the counter-attack.

Rovers, as the home side, also created a number of their chances but neither side was able to take advantage of the opportunities as the half progressed.

Rovers continued to press for an opener after half-time but Marcus Damons failed to convert excellent opportunities.

The first goal of the game came from Alvasson Magogodi’s clinical penalty in the second half.

As the game appeared to be slipping away for Varsity College, Lesego Motlhamme pulled one back for the visitors and then went to score the winner.

Having won two and lost one of their league matches, Varsity College currently sits fifth on six points

In their next league match, Varsity College will host FC Barcenal at Strurrock Park on November 26, while Rovers visit FC Munich at Davidsonville Stadium on November 27.
