Midrand-based FootGolf South Africa (FGSA) recently hosted a gala dinner and national championship as part of its FootGolf Challenge fundraiser, marking the start an exciting 2025 season.
The gala dinner, themed: ‘Teeing Off for Excellence’, was held on October 27 at the picturesque Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate Clubhouse. The primary objective of the gala dinner was to raise essential funds that will enable South African athletes to participate in the internationally recognised Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG) Masters.
The FIFG Masters will take place next year, hosted by the FootGolf Association of England at Ashbury, from August 19–24. Participation in such a prestigious tournament is crucial for SA athletes, as it provides them with the opportunity to compete internationally and gain invaluable experience on a global stage.
Norman Mphake, the president of FGSA, expressed his enthusiasm by stating, “We are excited to host this gala dinner, as it plays a vital role in allowing our talented athletes to maintain their competitive edge on the world stage.

“Proceeding this gala evening there will be a thrilling three-hole FootGolf Challenge, designed to give our guests an insightful experience of the game and its exciting nature.”
The funds raised during the gala dinner event will be instrumental in covering various expenses associated with the athletes’ preparation and participation in the FIFG Masters. These funds will go towards travel and accommodation costs, necessary competition fees, as well as training expenses to ensure that our athletes are well-prepared and ready to give their best in the competition.
FGSA is the national administrative governing body that oversees the sport of FootGolf in SA, and is an official member of the FIFG, including being the founding member country of the African FootGolf Association (AFGA).
