FGSA president Norman Mphake said: “We are thrilled to take FootGolf to Lusaka for the first time and allow our regional players to compete with each other. This tournament will not only strengthen the FootGolf community in Southern Africa but will also serve as a critical stepping stone in developing the next generation of talent in the region.”
Manor and Ashbury Golf Resort, with its world-class golf course and picturesque surroundings, will provide a perfect setting for this international competition. FGSA is planning to take a strong team of players to compete at this tournament.
“This is another huge moment for FGSA, and we are proud to take some of our top-performing athletes to experience world-class FootGolf,” Mphake explained.
“This will also shine a spotlight on our growing role in the global FootGolf community. With help from the government and sponsors or donors, we may also be able to take a few players to Mexico as part of our new partnership with the Mexican FootGolf Federation to promote inclusive sports and global collaboration and cultural exchange.”
FGSA will also host a series of local tournaments and qualifiers throughout the year to provide players with the opportunity to earn spots in international tournaments and build their rankings, including the National Championship taking place on November 23–25.
“It is worth noting that another format of competition is on the cards, but details of this will be shared as soon as we are ready.”
