Total Football Excellence captain reflects on the seasons that was
Sibusiso Jr Gcabashe, Total Football Excellence captain and 2025/26 Midrand Local Football Association player of the season believes hard-work paid off.
Total Football Excellence captain Sibusiso Jr Gcabashe has praised his team for the consistent hard-work leading to the team being crowned 2025/26 season Midrand Local Football Association (MLFA) champions.
Gcabashe, who was named MLFA player of the season said the triumph boils down to players’ commitment and dedication.
The crowning ceremony took place at the Rabie Ridge Stadium on June 28.
He said it was a tough season but credit must go to the coach Isaac “Iceman” Mabotsa for preparing them well ahead of each game they played.

“I think it was a long season, but we worked hard from training to the games. The team spirit was high among the players and you could see it in the games we played – we fought for one another. But more than anything, it was hard work that put us here,” said Gcabashe.
Asked, what challenges they might have encountered during the course of the campaign, he said fatigue started to crip in especially in the second-half of the season.
Gcabashe said they were now looking forward to ply their trade in the Hollywood Regional League.

“At the end, I think we prepared well and did well as a team overall. I think for us, we have been longing to go to the Hollywood Regional League. I think it’s another step for us as players to show our talent and strive for the best there,” concluded Gcabashe.
He urged his teammates to adapt quickly, consistent and continue with their hard work.
