Noordwyk Sec U17 netballers clinch D9

As they gear up for the upcoming tournaments, the netballers and coaches are hopeful that this is just the beginning of more glorious victories to come.

Noordwyk Secondary School is establishing itself as a powerhouse not only in soccer and athletics but also in netball, with the U17 girls proudly representing the school at high-profile competitions.

The U17 netballers, mirroring the success of the U17 soccer boys, also triumphed as the 2025 Johannesburg East District (D9) school netball champions on June 7.

According to the school netball head and coach, Mmatsheko Suzan Tsatsi, winning the district tournament is a monumental achievement for the school. “It’s a reflection of the hard work, discipline, and unity shown by the team throughout the season,” she stated.

The path to success was formidable, with the Noordwyk girls up against fierce competition. However, their resilience and composure shone through. They delivered an outstanding performance in the group stages, winning every match.

Their determination carried them through the semi-finals and finals, showcasing their exceptional teamwork.

Standout players like goal shooters Molatelo Matete and Ayanda Khoza were pivotal to the team’s success, consistently scoring crucial goals when they were needed most.

“But honestly, every player contributed, whether through shooting, defence, or just keeping the team energy high,” Tsatsi explained.

“…We are also working towards becoming one of the best netball teams in Gauteng. Our goal is to bring home that provincial title and make the school even more proud.”
