Ngwadla stun AT Mambas as Winter Games last 16 is confirmed

One of the tournament's biggest upsets saw Ngwadla FC eliminate AT Mambas FC as the 11th Ikeja Lerato Lamola Winter Games completed its round-of-32 stage.

The round of 16 line-up for the 11th edition of the Ikeja Lerato Lamola Winter Games has officially been confirmed following another exciting day of knockout football on June 14, capped by a major upset as Ngwadla FC eliminated crowd favourites AT Mambas FC.

The tournament, taking place at the Lord Khanyile Sports Ground in Esgodini, continued to deliver thrilling encounters as teams battled for the remaining spots in the last 16.

Ditau FC got the day’s action underway with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mashashane FC to secure progression to the next round.

Ama2000 FC also booked their place in the round of 16 after edging African Bhubhane FC 5-4 on penalties following a tense 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Malandelela FC enjoyed a more comfortable outing, defeating Babirwa FC 2-0 to advance, while the biggest talking point of the day came in the final fixture.

Ngwadla FC produced a disciplined performance to defeat AT Mambas FC 2-0, sending one of the most recognised and widely supported teams in local football crashing out of the competition.
For AT Mambas, the defeat extends their long wait for major Kasi football silverware, despite their status as one of the region’s most popular clubs.

With the round of 32 now complete, attention shifts to next weekend’s eagerly anticipated round-of-16 clashes.

The remaining teams in the competition are One Lion FC, Mogodumo FC, Team of Choice FC, 012 Ayifun’Wena FC, Galatasary FC, United FC, PSG FC, PEP XI, Marashia FC, Mudagasi FC, Gwara Gwara FC, Mapela United FC, Ditau FC, Ama2000 FC, Malandelela FC and Ngwadla FC.
