Platform for Midrand talent
MIDRAND - Openmic, a platform to give singers, rappers and poets in Midrand a platform, is growing and becoming more diverse.
This is according to OpenMic’s, Abiot Ledwaba.
Ledwaba, Sizwe Mbiza and Joachim Mamabolo started the initiative to give people an opportunity to showcase their talent or works.
Ledwaba said the event had now expanded to also promote the works of photographers, fashionistas and visual artists.
“Empowerment is important to OpenMic as a brand, which is why we decided to create such a thing as OpenMic,” said Ledwaba. “The community can expect fresh, innovative thinking from us.”
He said OpenMic also aimed to help performers through exchanging ideas on how they could improve their performances.
While OpenMic has played host to a number of sessions already, an official launch party will be hosted from 4pm on 28 June at Mojito Lounge in Midway Mews.
All community members are welcome to attend and enjoy the launch party.
Entrance is free.
