BREAKING NEWS: Taxi strike leaves commuters stranded, major roads blocked

Thousands of taxi drivers are marching to the office of the premier to hand over a memorandum of grievances.

Taxi services in parts of Mbombela have blocked major travel routes between Whiteriver and Mbombela on Friday morning.

They are complaining about tenders of scholar transport and transport tenders in general which they claim are being given to people outside the province.

“We also feel BUSCO is receiving special treatment and we want the same privileges,” alleged one of the protesters.

Due to major roads being blocked employees are unable to reach the various work station. Some commuters have to walk to work and they arrived late for work.

Motorists were left frustrated as bumper to bumper traffic took up most of the morning commute to work.
