Kaapmuiden SAPS seizes over R1m worth of dagga

Thirteen bags of dagga were found inside a suspect’s vehicle.

Kaapmuiden police arrested a 36-year-old man today, June 18, during a stop-and-search operation on the R38.

He has been charged with dealing in dagga.

According to SAPS, officers were conducting routine crime-prevention duties when they stopped and searched a white Nissan GD-6 single-cab bakkie. During the search, members discovered 13 bags of dagga concealed inside the vehicle.

“The dagga weighed approximately 170.6kg and has an estimated street value of more than R1m,” said SAPS spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe.

The dagga was confiscated and booked into evidence in accordance with SAPS procedures.

The accused is expected to appear in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, June 19.
