The incidents of referees attacks in the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League seem to be escalating following the assault of another referee in the match between Acornbush United and TS Galaxy over the weekend.

In a video footage in possession of Mpumalanga News, the referee and his assistants, who were in charge of the match are seen being attacked after the referee blew his final whistle in the game between the top provincial sides that was held at Vaalbank Artificial Turf Stadium on Saturday.

The referee and his assistants are visible, running for their dear lives until they were rescued off the field by a police bakkie.
United eventually won the match 2-1, courtesy of goals by Kinut Ngubo and Khehla Ntozelizwe. Galaxy’s goal was scored by Tswarelo Tlala.
