Suspect appears in court for his bail application

He was also found in possession of seven magazines, two police field trousers and two policewomen’s shirts in the suspect’s house

BETHAL – A 28-year-old man who was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and precious metals will appear for his formal bail application before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court today.

Mr Smith Leeroy Ramon was arrested after the Hawks received information about him being in possession of five pistols. “He was also found in possession of seven magazines, two police field trousers and two policewomen’s shirts in the suspect’s house,” explained Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesperson for the Hawks in the province.

“Other items including balaclavas, gloves, a bullet-proof vest, a Fidelity guard’s bullet-proof vest and two sachets of uncharted diamonds were also found in the suspect’s bedroom,”
