Missing policewoman found dead

It is suspected that the victim was kidnapped from Kabokweni, allegedly drugged and then taken to the bushes where she was assaulted until she died.

The body of a 37-year-old policewoman was reported missing at the Kanyamazane Police Station over the weekend.

The victim, Sgt. Sthembile Mdluli was attached to the White River Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit. She was reported missing by her family since Saturday. The probe by police led them to the victim’s male friend, who after intense questioning, disclosed and led the police to the scene near Sabie where the body was deserted.

It also appeared that the police in Sabie discovered a body of an unknown woman this morning through the assistance of plantation workers. Further investigation led to the discovery of the victim’s vehicle within the vicinity of Kabokweni yesterday.The male friend was arrested and charged with murder and will appear at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court soon.

The provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Services(SAPS) in Mpumalanga, Lt. General Mondli Zuma sent his heartfelt condoloences to the family and colleagues and a stern warning to offenders who killed police officers.

“One of the SAPS’s priorities is to put an end to police killings and to do that,we have committed ourselves. We will ensure that anyone who kills a police officer faces the full might of the law,” said Lieutenant General Zuma.
