More than 20 suspects arrested for closing R538

Masoyi police have arrested 23 suspects in connection with the recent service delivery protest.

The suspects, mostly young men aged between 20 to 23, are faced with charges of public violence.

Their arrest comes after the community blockaded the R538 on Monday and Tuesday with debris, rocks and burning tyres.
The group were protesting in demand of service delivering in the area.

Five Indian and Pakistan shops were also looted during the protest. A police officer was also injured on his head when some of the marchers threw SAPS with stones.
