Man accused of raping girl (12) remanded in custody
The suspect appeared in absentia in the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday due to the lockdown.
KABOKWENI – A 25-year-old rape suspect will remain behind bars until his next court appearance next month.
This follows his arrest on April 6 for the alleged rape of a 12-year- old girl in KaNyamazane.
According to a police report, the girl was visiting a friend when the incident took place. She returned home the following day and told her parents what had happened and a case was opened.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa confirmed that the suspect appeared in absentia in the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday due to the lockdown.
The case was postponed to May 4.
