Tebogo’s 41st birthday celebrated today
Tebogo Mabunda’s family, who was allegedly shot and killed by her husband, Mugiyo Ulrich Mabunda, will celebrate her heavenly birthday today (November 11) outside the Mpumalanga High Court.
Ulrich is expected to appear in court today. Kgopotso Matuwe, Tebogo’s sister, said this is the first time they will gather outside the court for the birthday celebration.
“We have decided to honour her life by celebrating her birthday, by placing flowers outside the court since the suspect will be appearing.
“Everyone is welcome to join us in this event. At the end of the day, we will collect the flowers and on Saturday Tebogo’s 41st birthday celebrated today November 13, we will take them to her grave.

“We chose to do it on Saturday because it is her daughter’s birthday, and she asked if she could spend the day with her mom. As the family we saw it fit to honour her as she would have turned 41.”
Matuwe said Tebogo’s death has not been easy for the family. The murder trial was postponed to November 11 during the previous proceedings on November 2.

The provincial NPA spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, said, “The postponement follows after the defence made an application for a special entry in terms of Section 317 of Act 51 of 1977.
In that application, the defence felt the accused is not receiving a fair trial.” Matuwe said she hopes that the trial would continue.
“I would be glad if the application is not approved and the trial continues so that justice can be served. We would be happy if the sentencing can be done for the sake of my sister’s life.” Every time when Ulrich appears in court, the family members and friends stand outside the gate. They are not allowed in due to Covid regulations.
