Why are the kids starving ?

"The source claimed that one of the workers at the centre indicated that he was instructed to load food parcels into the SGB chairperson's vehicle."

KABOKWENI – Local parents are irate about the alleged theft of food parcels meant to feed children by the school governing body (SGB) members at a day-care centre. This is according to one parent, who refused to be named for fear of victimisation.

He said the shocking revelation occurred when food supposed to feed the youngsters at Good Shepherd Centre was given to a governing body member whose relatives had passed away.

The source claimed that one of the workers at the centre indicated that he was instructed to load food parcels into the SGB chairperson’s vehicle.

“Other members are not aware of the incident.

“The poor kids are starving while food meant to feed them is used for other purposes,” he said.

The principal of the centre Ms Margaret Mazibuko said people created stories in an attempt to discredit them.

“You know how people are, they create fictitious stories.”

She, however, indicated that there was a case that they had reported but she didn’t want to go into detail because of its nature.

“We are not aware of any food theft other than the one that we have reported to the police and even the department of social development is aware of it,” she concluded.
