Executive chef takes the helm at new Emnotweni arena

As the man in charge, he will be responsible for setting the new standards of excellence in both food and services at the Arena.

Charismatic Chef Thomas Grove has taken the helm as the Executive Chef at the stunning new Emnotweni Arena.

Highly-qualified and with many years experience in the hospitality industry under his belt, Grove is just the man for the job.

As the man in charge, he will be responsible for setting the new standards of excellence in both food and services at the Arena. Among his tasks will be designing the new menus, overseeing big events and banquets, and managing a team of 20 strong.

Grove boasts a repertoire he has worked at a number of well known restaurants and hotels including the four-star Greenway Woods Resort in White River; the trendy 360 Degrees Bar and Grill in Harare, Zimbabwe, and the chic Melon Restaurant in Melville, Johannesburg.

And now, he brings this wealth of experience, finely-honed culinary skills and passion to Emnotweni Arena.

“We want to ensure that Emnotweni Arena becomes known and renowned for great choice, great quality, great food and great experiences. As the only venue of its kind in the Lowveld, it goes without saying that the Arena should be distinguished not only for its size and facilities but also for its food and service. Exciting times lie ahead as we kick of Emnotweni’s new era, and new beginnings for the Arena,” said Grove.

Emnotweni’s beloved Chef Wendy Dunn will support Grove in his endeavour to entrench the Arena’s position as the preferred venue for lifestyle events, banquets, concerts and gala events. However, her focus will be on rejuvenating and resorting to glory the Explorers Restaurant when it reopens in 2014.

Emnotweni’s Director of Operations and Complex General Manager, Ig Olivier had this to say: “We are thrilled to have Thomas Grove on board to lead the Emnotweni Arena into the future. He has exceptional passion for his work and is a highly-capable and valued addition to our food and beverage team.”
