Update on construction on N4

Motorists can still expect heavy delays and must please be patient

NELSPRUIT – The N4 is known for its high traffic volumes and what makes it worse, is the stop-and-go systems incorporated due to roadworks. In the unfortunate case of an accident, it results in pile-ups of up to 10 kilometres, which makes some parts of the highway inaccessible for quite some time.

To ensure problem-free usage of the N4 toll route between Pretoria and Maputo, TRAC has issued the following advisory on the state of the route, as well as details of current construction and maintenance projects:

Solomon Mahlangu to Diamond Hill Toll Plaza

• Removal of median hedges and herbicide spraying.

• Grass cutting on the road reserve. Be on the lookout for slow-moving tractors and grass cutters.

• No lane closures or delays expected.

Bossemanskraal to Bronkhorstspruit

• Removal of median hedges and installation of poles and steel cables to prevent illegal U-turns.

• No lane closures or delays expected.

Bronkhorstspruit to Balmoral

• Road marking in progress.
