SOPA expectations are very high

This comes ahead of the State of the province address which is expected to take place tomorrow.

MBOMBELA – Since this year started, the department of health has been in the spotlight following the shocking incidents that are daily faced by patients at different health institutions that have been investigated by Mpumalanga News.

As Premier David Mabuza will be delivering the State of the Province tomorrow at the Legislature , the provincial spokesperson of Democratic Alliance in department of health, Mr James Masango said: “Tomorrow I want to hear the premier indicating on how he is going to get enough money to address the crises that are faced by hospitals and clinics. That is, such as poor infrastructure, shortage of nurses and doctors. All these years he has been lamenting that problems in health sectors would be addressed.”

This department is not the only one that made headlines, as the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) indicated that there are problems that their members are experiencing in their working environment.

The provincial secretary SADTU, Mr Walter Hlaise said: “As a teacher’s union we are eagerly waiting for the premier’s Sopa. Our wish is to hear him covering more issues on education as it’s believed that education is the key to success. We want him to touch on the issue of increasing non-fee schools and building more classrooms at different schools in the province. Another thing that we are looking forward to is that we want to know how is he going to make sure that the University of Mpumalanga will be able to cover more students in the coming year,” said Hlaise.
