Husband and six others in court for raping wife

Information at police disposal revealed that her husband was the first one to rape her then followed by the men who took turns in raping the victim.

BETHAL – A 53-year-old man from has been arrested in connection with the  rape of his 27-year-old wife is expected  to appear before  Bethal magistrate’s Court today for his  formal bail application.

Police information states that it all emerged after the victim went to the police in Bethal to open a case after being allegedly raped by her husband and six other men, believed to have been lured by her husband.

According to the police, her husband was the first one to rape her then followed by the men who took turns in raping the victim. Further investigation also revealed that the suspect (husband) has been abusing the woman for quite a number of times.

A search warrant was also obtained with a purpose to search the suspect’s house. Pornographic materials of him with his wife and other women were found in the house. Police further seized a laptop and cellphones belonging to the suspect.

“A manhunt for the other suspects has been launched and we urge any person who may assist us with information that could lead to the arrest of these villains to contact Captain Elizabeth Koekemoer at 082 565 7514 or 0176242248,” said provincial spokesperson,Col Leonard Hlathi.
