No voting vibe

Some people decided to do their house chores instead of voting

BARBERTON – In some areas you can tell by the atmosphere that the election day has arrived, but in this town it seems as if it is one of those holidays since people are not showing any interest as at this stage some voting stations there were no long queues.

Even the renowned busiest voting station known as the community hall, there is no buzz around it.

An investigation by this newspaper revealed that most of the people decided to do their house chores instead of voting because they don’t see a need of casting their votes.

Ms Nomfundo Ngomane had this to say: “I don’t think my voting is doing justice for me. Ever since I started voting in 1994, politicians are not fulfilling their promises. Even those who oppose, once they get into power, they don’t do anything as they were just trying to score political points with their manifestos, “ she explained.

Although there’s been a seemingly slow trickling of voters here, but the so called “Born frees” didn’t want to miss the opportunity to
vote for the very first time.

Tebo Molemo told Mpumalanga News that she was over the moon that finally the day he has been waiting for is here.. ”I feel happy that for the first time in my life I have cast my vote. I’m so thankful because in other countries young people like me don’t get this opportunity. I believe that my right is going to make a huge difference in terms of changing the lives of other people.“
