Human settlement do away with slums

”I was living in shacks for a very long time and now I am glad that today I’m no longer sleeping with one eye open because I have a decent shelter".

ERMELO – More than 700 elderly people received their title deeds of RDP houses.
This comes after the MEC for Human Settlements, Ms Violet Siwela visited Gert Sibande District for two days last week.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony of the title deeds at AJ Swanepoel stadium, Siwela said: “We are fulfilling a dream of our people as outlined in the Freedom Charter. Our government is committed to make sure our people live in integrated and sustainable human settlements.”

One of the jubilant beneficiaries, Ms Josephina Bhembe said after she received her title deed:

”I was living in shacks for a very long time and now I am glad that today I’m no longer sleeping with one eye open because I ‘m free. I have a decent shelter that I own it.“
