The Mpumalanga Department of Education has issued out a statement on the outcome of the North Gauteng High Court granting the CEFUPS Academy an interim relief not to close on 01 January 2015 until their application for a review is heard and adjudicated to in 2015.

According to the statement, the Department was opposed to the idea, but has indicated that it would abide by the Court decision. The view of the Department is that the matter still remains subjudice.

The department had taken a decision to withdraw the registration of CEFUPS Academy with effect from 01 January 2015 in a statement released in October this year.

This came after the school dominated media headlines for the past few months, following the death of a matric learner, Paballo Seane, which triggered public outcry and calls for the school to be closed.
