Learners take a glimpse at expo

Sitfokotile High School learners were given a glimpse of what to expect during the annual TSB Career Expo scheduled to begin on March 2.

MATSULU – Sitfokotile High School learners were given a glimpse of what to expect during the annual TSB Career Expo scheduled to begin on March 2.

During this briefing last Friday, conducted by the main sponsors, TSB and other key sponsors such as Sembcorp Silulumanzi, TRAC, the National Youth Development Agency, TUT, Sanlam, and Nedbank, these future leaders were prepared for what to expect during the fourday
expo.

Ms Allet Kinnear of Brand Menue said it was aimed at helping the learners understand the different careers opportunities that were available to them so that they can choose wisely.

“How do learners make tentative career decisions if they have not gained knowledge about occupational alternatives? And where does the rural learner get exposure to a wide variety of occupations?” asked Kinnear.

She said not enough time and effort was given to the grade-nine learners, considering that one of their most important decisions was a career choice.

Agreeing with Kinnear was TSB’s Mr Kenneth Phiri, who also emphasised the importance of such exhibitions.

“A decision like this need not to be taken lightly and the biggest challenge of such a decision for learners especially those in rural areas, is exposure to career fields,” added Phiri.

All the other main sponsors of this event voiced their readiness to help all the grade-nine learners from the various schools to make informed career choices.
