Williams to appear in court today

Williams was supposed to appear in the White River Magistrate's Court the day before, but his hearing was cancelled due to load-shedding.

MBOMBELA – The staff of the well-known Londolozi Game Reserve are still in shock after Mr Wade Morgan Williams allegedly kidnapped and threatened a colleague at gunpoint and fled with millions of rand on April 5.

He was arrested on charges of theft, kidnapping, pointing of a firearm and vehicle theft. Mr Chris Kane-Berman, general manager of the reserve, spoke to Lowvelder on Thursday morning. Williams was supposed to appear in the White River Magistrate’s Court the day before, but his hearing was cancelled due to load-shedding.

Kane-Berman described Williams as a diligent worker. He worked in the financial department in Johannesburg and visited the reserve once a month for meetings. “We never expected this from him,” he said. According to Kane-Berman, the accused worked for the reserve for over five years and colleagues were shocked when they heard about the incident. Kane-Berman also added that they would officially comment on the case once it has been closed.
Williams’s case was transferred to the White River Magistrate’s Court where he will be able to apply for bail today.
