A well-known local clothing retailer, Nevills Mbombela branch, has teamed up with the ABC Motsepe League campaigners, Phiva Young Stars in a deal in which the team from the Nkomazi subregion will be dressed up by this giant clothing retailer.

To kick-start their relationship, Nevills Clothing donated Pierre Cardin outfits to the team as uniforms for their official soccer games.

Speaking to Mpumalanga News about this gesture, Young Stars’ chairman, Mbokane Khoza said this gesture by Nevills has encouraged his players to fight hard for promotion to the National First Division next season.

“Words can never begin to describe the joy we feel right now. We would like to thank Nevills for opening their doors
for us.

“This gesture has encouraged the team to work extra hard,” said Khoza.

With the ever-escalating costs of running a professional soccer team, with proper structures in place, Young Stars will sleep peacefully at night knowing they are well looked after, thanks to private companies such as Nevills.

“It is very taxing to run a professional soccer team, let alone running it in this division because there is no money here.

Everything that we do must come from our own pockets and that is why we really acknowledge support from private companies. So, this gesture by Nevills will go a long way and we will forever be thankful to them,” continued Khoza.

The team was showered with Pierre Cardin shirts, jeans and shoes for all the players and the technical team.

Khoza said the talent and the professional manner in which the team is being run, were the main reasons why local companies such as Nevills was willing to come aboard and work with them.

Since their formation, Young Stars have been a force to be reckoned with.

Having been a club on the rise, they made their debut appearance in the Nedbank Cup last 32 where they hosted Jomo Cosmos at the KaMhlushwa Stadium.

The club is currently playing their home games at the newly renovated KaMhlushwa Stadium, and mentored by the seasoned coach, Ashwin Sutton.

They are currently in position two on the ABC Motsepe League.
They are just seven games away to making it to the national play offs, which would see them campaigning in the National First Division next season.
