PIENAAR – An elderly man is fighting for his life at Themba hospital after being brutally assaulted by community members when he was trying to save his son from an angry mob.
The spokesperson of the local police station LT Jabu Ndubane confirmed this incidents as she alluded “It’s true that an elderly person was assaulted by a mob.” It is reported that a group of people who were singing political songs or slogans came to the house and started attacking the pensioner’s son, and when he realized that his son was being attacked with different objects including a bottles he jumped in and that was when the mob attacked him.
Ndubane said the motive of the attack is not yet known and no arrest made so far.
“No arrests have been made but we are doing our best to find out exactly what happened,”said Ndubane.
