Pensioner accused of raping a minor
According to police information, the victim was allegedly lured by the pensioner to follow her in his bedroom as he was going to show her something very important and without suspecting any foul play, the suspect forced himself on her.
WHITE RIVER – A 63-year- old pensioner appeared in the White Magistrate’s Court on September 7 on charges of raping an 18-year-old victim.
According to police information, the victim was allegedly lured by the pensioner to follow her in his bedroom as he was going to show her something very important and without suspecting any foul play, the suspect forced himself on her.
The victim them relayed the ordeal to her older sister who in turn confronted the suspect who allegedly offered to bribe the victim’s sister with an undisclosed amount of money for her to keep silent, which she declined.“The matter was then reported to the police later on that day and the suspect was swiftly nabbed by the man in blue on the same day,” explained W/O Gugu Phiri.
The suspect was remanded in custody and will appear again on September 16.
