Another Small Claim Court officially opened
This is an achievement of our constitutional democracy to accessing justice by our people.

KABOKWENI- Mpumalanga province was highly praised for having achieved a 100% attainment of Small Claims Court.
“This achievement is not only by mere attainment but the province was the first to reach this milestone in the country. This is an achievement of our constitutional democracy to accessing justice by our people,” acclaimed Mr Paul Mthimunye during the official opening of the a Small Claims Court at Nsikazi Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The opening was officiated by the deputy minister in the department of justice and constitutional development Mr John Jeffery who explained that Small Claims Courts are used to settle minor civil disputes that are less than R15 000.
“If one had a dispute with another person, be it someone you had borrowed money and is no longer paying you back then Civil courts or Small Claims court can be used. They are a simple and cost effective way to resolve disputes. They have been a success story in the drive to make justice more accessible,” explained Jeffery.
The department has established 362 Small Claims Courts nationally. The event was attended by various stakeholders including commissioners, clerks of the court, councillors and the local traditional leader Chief HR Nkosi.
