Residents threaten to cut rapists’ penises off

"Police will come and collect their lifeless bodies when we have sorted them out because sometimes our justice system fails us,"

NKOHLAKALO – This community has come up with a good solution to the endless rape cases. The answer now is to cut off the manhood of all rapists caught in the act from now, henceforth.

This was decided last Saturday when an unknown man, in his early 30s, fled for his life after furious community members bayed for his manhood after he was accused of the alleged rape of a 64-year-old pensioner who was sitting under a tree in her yard. He could have been the first victim the community would have meted out their harsh punishment on.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the pensioner, who didn’t want her name to be revealed for safety reasons, was approached by the suspect who apparently asked for water. When the woman went inside the house, he allegedly followed her and pushed her to the ground.

“Every day when it’s hot, I sit under my tree and I never thought that someone would attack me. I did not suspect anything when I saw him enter my yard as he did not look like a criminal.

I was shocked when he pushed me and tried to undress me. That is when I raised the alarm.

“Luckily my neighbours heard me and they came to rescue me”, and when he saw them, he ran away,” she alluded.

This publication also learnt that community members of this area said they were more than ready to teach rapists a lesson they will never forget.

They said it will also send a clear message to others who are looking at women and children as sex objects. They have come up with the slogan: “You rape, you lose your manhood”.
Another community member, who was part of the group that was up in arms,
Ms Mercy Fakudze said:
“We have reached a point where we are no longer free. People are being raped even during the day, especially when it’s quiet but those rapists who treat women as sex objects to an extent that they even raped them, their days are numbered.”

“Police will come and collect their lifeless bodies when we have sorted them out because sometimes our justice system fails us,” said Fakudze.

He said in most cases the rapist didn’t receive a harsher punishment but recieved bail and came back to the very community and made fun of the victims. Speaking to the spokesperson of KaBokweni Police Station, Capt Shelly Ngomane said:

“Community members must not take the law into their own hands. We understand that there are a lot of problems that the community is faced with and we are also aware that there are people who are giving communities sleepless nights.

“Everywhere we go, we always preach about the bad impact of mob justice and we even give them our numbers to call us because it’s our responsibility as police to protect the community.
They must allow the law to take its course,” Ngomane said.
