Alleged Swazi police officer up for possession of dagga

Police found dagga estimated at a street value of R28 200 squirrelled underneath the vehicle in which he was driving. The vehicle was also seized.

TONGA – A 39-year-old Swazi national, Mfanaleni Mdluli, who is believed to be a Police Constable in Swaziland, appeared before the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in Tonga near Malelane yesterday facing a charge of possession of dagga.

The arrest made by the Komatipoort K9 group uncovered dagga weighing 140,85kg with over R400 000 street value.

The suspect was arrested yesterday at Mananga Port of Entry during a routine search while crossing the border into the country from Swaziland transporting the dagga. Police found dagga estimated at a street value of R28 200 squirrelled underneath the vehicle in which he was driving. The vehicle was also seized.

The suspect has been remanded in custody until 23 March 2016, pending further investigation.
