NUMBI – Hijack cases are on the rise in this area and local police have warned motorists to be extra careful while driving, especially at night.

This week, two cases had been reported where hijackers fled with two vehicles in two separate incidents.

According to the police, in one of the cases which took place during the Numbi Spin City, three men shot a victim who was having a conversation with another man outside his vehicle.

“The engine of the car was on and the suspect pushed the owner aside, shot him on the leg and sped off in his car,” said Const Naniki Nonyane.

Cases of attempted murder and hijacking have been opened and investigations are under-way.

Local police have requested anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the hijackers to come forward.
