Mob justice cases raise concerns in Nkomazi

The community of Kamhlushwa cornered and assaulted five men believed to be involved in the commission of house robberies around the area.

TONGA –The police have raised serious concerns on the escalating number of mob justice cases around this area. This follows the recent incident of mob justice that took place at Kamhlushwa last week.

The community of Kamhlushwa cornered and assaulted five men believed to be involved in the commission of house robberies around the area. Police received information of mob justice and acted swiftly to the call.

“Upon our arrival, the community was burning tyres, and we managed to rescue the five suspects and they were taken to Tonga Hospital. It is unfortunate that one of the suspects died upon his arrival at the hospital after being severely beaten,” said Lt Mzwandile Nyambi of Tonga SAPS.

Nyambi has confirmed that an investigation of murder and assault has been launched and they are still in a process of linking the suspects with the said house robberies.
