Old satellite police station used as a hiding place for criminals

BARBERTON – The satellite police station that was burnt down by furious community members in 2012 during a service delivery protest has allegedly turned out to be a hiding place for criminals.
This publication received numerous complaints from the public about this matter. It’s alleged that there are young boys who smoke dagga in the building and when it’s quite, they wait in the street and rob people of their belongings.
“I was on my way home from Cathville clinic when the a group of young boys attacked me and took by bag and they ran straight to the old satellite police station,” said one of the victims, Ms Cebo Sibande .
The satellite police station is no longer used as the building is damaged. Some community members tried during Mandela Day in 2014 to renovate the building, but they didn’t succeeded due to lack of funding and donations.
