Body of missing 5-year-old boy found in a stream

PIENAAR – The body of a five-year-old boy, with bruises around the eyes, was found in a shallow stream near his home. Sanele Mabaso went missing on Wednesday afternoon.
It is alleged that after his brother had fetched him from pre-school, they decided to play soccer in the yard. They later took a nap, and when the elder brother woke up, Sanele was nowhere to be found.
The spokesperson for the local police, Lt Jabu Ndubane, confirmed the incident. “The father of the deceased reported that his child went missing and that the following day the boy’s body was found in a stream near his home.
At this stage we are waiting for the post-mortem results, but we suspect that the child was murdered before the body was dumped in the stream. We don’t believe that he drowned,” said Ndubane. No arrests have been made yet, but a case of murder has been opened.
