Foreign shopkeeper arrested for selling expired food

TONGA – A 31-year-old foreign shopkeeper was arrested on Friday for allegedly selling expired food to community members.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the arrest of the suspect, whose identity is still withheld as he is expected to appear in court, comes after the local police embarked on operation in various places such as Goba and Mbuzini.

The communication officer of the local police station, Mzwandile Nyambi confirmed the incident as he said: “A foreign national has been arrested for contravening Act 63 of 1997 Health Service Act, selling of expired food and the goods were confiscated,” he said.
