Taxi association accused of unfairness to comuters
Residents are said to prefer using buses and lifts as taxis are very slow, especially in the morning. That does not augur well with the taxi industry.

BARBERTON – The Barberton Taxi Association is accused of acting reluctantly in addressing the issue of its drivers who still continue to molest hitch-hikers to Mbombela from cars at the hitch-hiking spot.
Mpumalanga News learnt that the drivers went further by insulting the people, using vulgar language and threatening to set the vehicles alight if they offered lifts to people.
In one of the incidents that was witnessed by this publication this morning at Extension 12, a driver wanted to assault a pensioner who refused to board a taxi that was to take him back to the taxi rank in town.

Our efforts to get a comment from the chairperson of the association, Mr Jabulani Mkhabela, were fruitless at the time going to press as he was reportedly in a council meeting.
