Situation back to normal in Mbombela CBD
The situation is back to normal in the Mbombela CBD after employees under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) went on the rampage and threw garbage around the city following the termination of their contracts yesterday.

MBOMBELA – The spokesperson for the City of Mbombela Local Municipality, Mr Joseph Ngala has dismissed the allegations made by the employees that they were used to get votes during the local government elections as they claimed. “It is unfortunate that now they are coming with these kind of allegations yet they were told very clearly when signing their contracts that it is temporary jobs,” he explained.

“We also want to send our apologies to business and ordinary people who were affected by the disturbances of yesterday and to appeal to people to use the right channels when they have problems other than taking their own decisions which might lead to them being arrested in future,” added Ngala.
