Murder kingpin in the dock

He appeared before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court where he was granted a R30 000 bail on the same day.

Hendrik Abraham Barnard, a 51-year-old alleged kingpin in the conspiracy to commit murder case was arrested by the Hawks on Monday.

Barnard is alleged to have hired Sunboy Sibande (35) to recruit hit men and paid out R60 000.000 for the hit men to do the job.

The three hit men who were recruited by Sibande; Bonginkosi Excellent Mnisi (33), Dumisani Robert Sambo (46) and Nomalanga Khumalo (49) were arrested last month and are still in custody.

All five suspects are expected to appear in Bethal Magistrate court together on the February 27, 2017.
