Learners at Siyafundza primary back in class, for now

Learners are back in classes after parents locked school's gates due to overcrowding.

MSHADZA – Teaching and learning is back to normal at Siyafundza Primary School even though parents are not happy with the outcome of the meeting held with Nsikazi Circuit leadership.

For the past two weeks learners were forced by their parents to boycott classes because they were not happy with the school’s conditions, including overcrowding and shortage of furniture.

Concerned parent, Ms Glenda Sibanyoni says, “We were told it will take a process for our grievances to be addressed. We were advised to write a letter to the HOD of the department of education, but we are not happy at all. I can confirm that learners are back in their classrooms and we are no longer picketing. Things are back to normal at Siyafundza,” she explained.

It all unfolded to weeks ago when parents decided to picket, crying out to this publication that they wanted the department of education to fulfil its promises of building them a new school at Dingindonda Trust to assist in addressing the issue of overcrowding especially.
