This comes after the departure of former Municipal Manager and the Chief Financial Officer earlier last month.

As a result of those vacancies, the city’s council then resolved to approach the provincial Department of Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs to second officials to serve in those positions in acting capacities.

The new Municipal Manager, Neil Diamond received a clear mandate from the MEC and Executive Mayor to implement a turnaround strategy and establish a financially sound local government with a transparent clean administration that delivers quality services to the citizens of Mbombela.

The City of Mbombela has also appointed acting Chief Financial Officer, Mr Wiseman Khumalo, who has over 15 years working experience in local government having occupied various positions including Head of Internal audit and CFO positions.
