Ray Phiri’s children vow to keep his legacy alive

One of Phiri's daughters, Zewande spoke about how she regretted not the unsaid things between her and her father but said she will always remember him.

MBOMBELA- His children described him as caring man who loved them dearly, but was also as a disciplinarian.

This was during his funeral service held at Mbombela Stadium earlier today. Two of his children, Akhona and Zewande paid tribute to the legendary musician.

His son, Akhona  shared stories about his fondest memories with his father.

” That man was one of a kind. I remember one day when I visited him in hospital, he told me he yearned to see the younger ones back home as he missed spending time with them in the kitchen. He loved and cared about children so much. One thing I will miss him for is the fact that he was an avid reader. Whenever he bought a newspaper and someone reads it before him, he would tell you to go and buy a new one because he does not read old news,” he chuckled.
