Posthumous award for Ray Phiri
The South African Afro Music Awards will honour legendary musician, Ray Chikapa Phiri with a Lifetime Achiever award for his contribution in the music industry.
The awards will take place on November 23 at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, Gauteng where Phiri’s daughter, Gugu will receive the award on his behalf.
Chairman of the SAAFMA’s, China Mpololo expressed sadness stating that Phiri was looking forward to receiving his award as he had presented an award on the first year.
Phiri died at the age 0f 70 from lung cancer in July this year.
