Police appeal to community members to refrain from hitch-hiking
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma urges the community to use public transport. “Not only does hitch-hiking put the lives of people at risk, but also that of motorists who can lose both their vehicles and property at best, and their lives at worst.” said the Provincial Commissioner.
NESLPRUIT – The police are appealing to the community to refrain from hitch-hiking as it will put their lives at risk.
A number of incidents were reported in various roads in the province. “This appeal follows a separate incident which occurred on December 9. Two men were seen offloading a male from their vehicle and dumped him in the plantations near Sudwala outside Nelspruit. On the way to the scene, the police stopped the vehicle with two occupants. They returned to the scene and found the man drugged and robbed. The vehicle was searched and items belonging to the victim were found and the pair was arrested,” said the police.
The suspects, aged 63 and 70, appeared briefly at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court yesterday. They were remanded in custody and will appear in court today.
