Ladysmith Black Mambazo win Grammy Award
In their twitter account the group posted messages thanking their fans and South Africa for their fifth Grammy Award
South Africa’s male choral group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, renowned for their vocal styles of Isicathamiya and mbube, won a Grammy Award for Best World Music Album on Sunday.
The award for the ‘Shaka Zulu Revisited: 30th Anniversary Celebration’ marked the group’s fifth win at the same awards.

The group was formed by Joseph Shabalala in 1960 and later became one of South Africa’s most prolific recording artists, with their releases receiving gold and platinum disc honours.
They became the first South African group to win a Grammy Award when they won an award for the best traditional folk album in 1988 with the song Shaka.
They also won the Grammy Awards’s Best Traditional World Music in 2004 with their album Raise Your Spirit Higher. They did the same in 2009 when they won in the Best traditional world music album and again in 2013 when they won the best world music album.
