Mayflower murder suspect remanded in custody

A naked and decomposed body floating in the river believed to be of the victim was discovered on Sunday.

A suspect was arrested for allegedly murdering a 15-year-old school girl in Mayflower. It is alleged that the victim was last seen with the suspect on February 23.

The victim’s mother reported her missing on Monday, February 26.

According to a statement by SAPS, on Sunday a naked and decomposed body floating in the river believed to be of the victim was discovered.

“The suspect, Tebogo Skhosana (28) was then arrested and later pointed out the scene of the crime, where the victim’s clothes were also discovered,” said SAPS spokesperson, Brigadier Leonard Hlathi.

Skhosana appeared in court on Wednesday. “The suspect was remanded in custody pending a formal bail application. He will appear again on March 19, at the Mayflower Periodical Court,” said Hlathi.
