Residents protest in demand of water

They add that the local councillor who stays in Makoko hardly calls community meetings at Nhlalakahle

Two communities went on rampage on the Tuesday in demand of services in their communities.
First it was the community of Nhlalakahle outside Kabokweni closed all entrances to the area in demand of drinking water in the community.

Angry community members barricaded roads with huge trees and stones making it hard for motorists to move into or out of the area. They allege that they have been without water for two months now.

Members of the SAPS arrived around 11:00 to calm down the situation and removed the debris from the roads.


Movement also came to a complete standstill at the Plaston/ Kabokweni road, Tekatakho junction when parents from Buhleni primary school took to the streets to vent their anger against the school’s principal accused of tarnishing the image of the school. They accused him of not consulting with the school governing body.

“No criminal cases were reported from the scene. No one was arrested and the road was later opened for traffic to and from Kabokweni,” she said.
