Manager held against his will at Mpumalanga Fresh Produce

"We are not willing to let him go until the Liviero management at head office gives us our money."

MBOMBELA- Angry subcontractors demanding payment are holding a site manager, Mr Yeashiel Mabudeo, against his will at Mpumalanga Fresh Produce outside Mbombela on the Lydenburg Road.

Mabudeo is an employee of Liviero Civils and it is the contractor on site.

According to a subcontractor known to Mpumalanga News, they are not willing to let him go until the Liviero management at head office gives them their money.

The office of the site manager.

“We are willing to stay here until tomorrow if we need to, however, the site manager will be staying here with us. He will not go out of this gate.

“We have employees who need their March salary and we do not have it because we were not paid too. Our employees live with us in our communities and when they see us they stop us demanding their salaries. I have a wife who is heavily pregnant and these people keep going to my house looking for me. Others have children who need food and clothes. Our employees had to go for their Easter holidays without their salaries and it is not right,” he explained.

Mabudeo said his company is a service provider hired by Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency.

“We have not received any payment since December. For the past few months our company had to cover the cost, however, they no longer have money. I called our head office to tell them the situation and they said they will talk to them tomorrow. Our client had informed us about not being able to pay us until the end of April,” he said.

Mpumalanga News contacted MEGA, by the time the story was published we had not received their response.
